MUFSD Tech Tip #1

Copying the Link to Highlighted Text

Greetings!

In case we have yet to meet, I am the district's Director of Instructional Technology. In this role, I help promote the meaningful integration of technology into the K-12 curriculum. I am very excited for this work and look forward to being a resource for you.

For 2022, I am trying something new. Every now and again, I will send out quick "tech tips” to help you better leverage technology.

In this first installment of MUFSD Tech Tips, you will learn how to send someone the link to a specific spot on a webpage (click the image below for an example).

Directions

So long as you are using a recent version of the Google Chrome web browser on your computer (not a phone or tablet):

  1. Navigate to the desired web page
  2. Highlight the specific text you wish to share
  3. Right click the now-highlighted text
  4. Select "Copy Link to Highlight"

The special link is now copied to your clipboard!

Now What?

Now that the link is copied to your clipboard, you can paste it anywhere you would like—via Google Classroom, in an email, in a Google Doc, etc. So long as the recipient has Google Chrome set as their default web browser, they will be taken to the specific location on the web page.

Use Cases

  • Direct students to a specific quote in a news article
  • Share an important statistic with your colleagues
  • Highlight the answer to a question for parents
  • Many others!

Until next time, happy tech-ing!
