MUFSD Tech Tip #2

Quick Actions via .new

A new month calls for a new tech tip! In this issue, you'll learn how to leverage the "dot new" domain to quickly perform digital tasks, like starting a new Google Doc or scheduling a meeting.

What's a Domain?

Simply put, a domain is the end-part of a web address. ".com" is the domain intended for commercial use, while ".org" is the domain used by organizations, ".edu" is used by educational institutions, and so forth.

".new" is a modern domain used to activate shortcuts directly from your address bar.

Quickly Create a Google Doc

  1. Type "docs.new" in your browser's address bar
  2. Press enter

That's it! So long as you're signed in to your Google account, the browser will automatically make a brand new Google Doc.

Now What?

You and your students can use the ".new" domain to quickly perform hundreds of tasks. A curated list of shortcuts is available by clicking here, but below are some of my favorites.
